Short version: we collect the minimum we need to deliver groceries and resolve disputes. We don't sell data. We don't show ads. Sellers see your name and pickup spot, not your phone or email.
What we collect
- From signup: your name, phone, email, password (hashed).
- From use: orders you place, pools you join, messages you send in pool chat.
- From Paystack: the last 4 digits of your card, expiry, brand. Not the full PAN.
- From sellers applying: a government ID. Stored encrypted. Visible only to admin.
How we use it
To run the marketplace. Specifically: route your pickup PIN to your phone, refund you, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud. We never use your contact details to advertise anything.
Who sees your data
- Sellers see your display name and the pickup spot you chose. Not your phone, email, or other orders.
- Chowpool admin sees everything, including IDs (sellers only). Used only for verification and dispute resolution.
- Paystack sees payment details directly. We never see your full card.
- Termii (SMS) and Resend (email) see only the message + your phone or email at send time.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies: one to keep you signed in and one to remember your cart between visits. No analytics, advertising, or third-party marketing pixels. Because these cookies are strictly necessary to run the service, there is nothing to opt out of; clearing them in your browser simply signs you out.
Retention
Orders: 7 years (tax). Pool chat messages: 2 years. Login sessions: until you sign out or 90 days idle. Disputes & associated evidence: 7 years.
You can request deletion of your account anytime, see account settings. 30-day cooldown before permanent deletion.
Your rights
Under the NDPR you can request a copy of your data, request correction, request deletion, and withdraw consent. Account deletion can be initiated by signing in and going to Account → Security → Delete account; we'll anonymise your data after a 30-day grace window. For other requests, email dpo@chowpool.com.
