By using Chowpool you agree to these terms. They apply equally to buyers, sellers, and group buy organisers. If you break them, we can suspend your account.
Who can use Chowpool
Anyone 18+ resident in Nigeria with a Nigerian phone number and bank account. We may ask for ID at any point to confirm.
Chowpool's role
We are a marketplace and an escrow operator. We do not own the groceries listed. We do not weigh or inspect goods. We verify sellers' identities and we hold money in escrow on behalf of buyers until pickup is confirmed.
Buyer rules
- Show up at pickup with your PIN. Repeated no-shows lead to suspension.
- Disputes must be raised within 24 hours of pickup window close.
- Reviews must reflect real experiences. Fake reviews lead to ban.
Seller rules
- Listings must be honest. Photos must be your actual goods.
- Weight and quantity must be accurate. Disputes for short weights are decided against the seller.
- Pickup commitment: be there during the stated window. No-shows trigger automatic refunds and may lead to suspension.
- 3.5% platform fee on each completed transaction.
Pool organiser rules
- Only source from real suppliers you can vouch for.
- Upload proof photos honestly. Edited or stolen photos = permanent ban.
- You are responsible for distributing goods to members; Chowpool holds escrow on your behalf only.
Fees & payouts
3.5% on item subtotal, deducted from seller payouts. Delivery passes through in full. Refunded orders carry no fee. Payouts via Paystack Transfer; bank timing depends on Paystack.
Disputes
Open within 24 hours of pickup window close. Admin reviews both sides' evidence + chat log within 24 business hours. Decision is final and binding under these terms.
Liability
We are not liable for the quality of goods. We are liable for the escrow funds we hold, and we refund per the rules above. For food safety, weight accuracy, and freshness, dispute resolution is your route.
Changes to terms
We can update these terms at any time. Material changes will be emailed 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that = acceptance.
